Dimension: The embrace - Theme: Flat giros

In this class, we looked at how we can use dissociation to lead the difference between a side step, a forward ocho and a backward ocho. It might sound obvious, but it's not! We then applied this technique to really cool steps such as the flat giro, the change of front and the change of weight.

Dimension: The embrace - Theme: Activating the right size of the embrace

It is very common to focus mainly on the open side of the embrace and completely forget the closed side. Both sides are equally important however and serve a different purpose, carrying different messages In this class, we focused on the closed side of the embrace and a really nice giro to the leader's right side.

Dimension: The embrace - Theme: open and close embrace.

In this class, we saw how to build a comfortable embrace and how to transition from an open to a close embrace. We then applied this concept to the sandwich, the fun mordidas and the cross, a step which is often used to smoothly move from close to open embrace.

Steps we like! :-)

For the last class of the year, we just wanted to have fun, so we decided to go over some of the steps we really like. Funny enough, you'll see that a few of them involve the follower going forward for a change!

Dimension: Size - Theme: Asynchronicity

Asynchronicity is when both partners are stepping at different times, let's say one on the beat and the other on the half beat. These is great to add some energy and a certain element of surprise to your dancing.
